It was a proud day for EntrePaducah Tuesday (3-2-10).
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear announced in Paducah that the Southern Growth Policy Board awarded EntrePaducah® its “Innovator Award” for 2010 for its work with small businesses facing challenges from the economic downturn. Only one award recipient is selected from each of the 13 participating states.
EntrePaducah’s goals of helping start-up businesses were quickly amended to extend to existing businesses affected by the recession. “In just a year, we’ve effectively become a central source for small business development in the Paducah area,” said EntrePaducah Board Chairman Phil McIntosh, “devoting resources specifically toward entrepreneurial businesses has made us a stronger community, despite the recession.”
Southern Growth Policies Board is a non-partisan public policy think tank based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Formed by the region's governors in 1971, Southern Growth Policies Board develops and advances visionary economic development policies by providing a forum for partnership and dialog among a diverse cross-section of the region's governors, legislators, business and academic leaders and the economic- and community-development sectors. The 2010 Innovator Awards will be presented at Southern Growth's 2010 Chairman's Conference, Driving the Next 20 Years: Maximizing the New Automotive Industry in the South.
